Oman Signs 36 Tourism Development Contracts Worth 100 Million Rials

Oman’s Ministry of Heritage and Tourism announced it has signed 36 usufruct contracts totalling 100 million Omani rials ($260 million) during the first nine months of 2025. These agreements fund projects aiming to advance the country’s tourism sector as part of its economic diversification strategy.

Wide-Ranging Projects Across Regions

The contracts cover various development efforts, including the construction and upgrade of hotels, resorts, tourist camps, and the restoration of heritage and cultural sites. The largest concentration of projects is in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate, especially Wilayat Bidiyah, where several tourist camps and hospitality entities will be established. Other governorates benefiting include Muscat, Dhofar, Dhakhiliyah, and South Al Batinah.

Focus on Sustainable Economic Growth

These initiatives aim to boost job creation, promote tourism-related small and medium enterprises, and develop Oman’s diverse cultural and natural assets. Authorities seek to position Oman as a unique travel destination in the Arabian Peninsula, providing visitors with memorable experiences while respecting local heritage and environment.

Community and SME Empowerment

The projects support employment for Oman’s youth and encourage SME involvement to generate broad-based economic benefits. Enhancing infrastructure and tourist services is expected to stimulate growth in the hospitality sector and associated industries.
