NEOM is a $500 billion futuristic city in Tabuk designed for innovation and environmental sustainability. Qiddiya, located southwest of Riyadh, is a $9.8 billion entertainment and sports city under development to become a leisure destination.
The Red Sea Project is a luxury tourism initiative covering 32,200 square kilometers, focusing on nature conservation and sustainable hospitality. Diriyah Gate, a historical and cultural development near Riyadh, is valued at $63.2 billion and aims to preserve Saudi heritage while supporting tourism growth.
Economic and Environmental Impact
Collectively, these giga projects are transforming Saudi Arabia’s infrastructure with large-scale investments exceeding $250 billion in construction contracts and about $1.25 trillion in real estate and infrastructure projects.
The developments target attracting an estimated 150 million visitors annually by 2030, significantly expanding the tourism sector. These projects emphasize sustainability through green building practices, renewable energy use, and eco-friendly urban planning.
