GCC One-Stop Travel System to Launch in December 2025

The GCC one-stop travel system will begin its pilot phase between the UAE and Bahrain in December 2025. This new system allows travelers within the Gulf Cooperation Council member states to complete immigration, security, and customs checks just once at the departure airport, eliminating multiple border checks during intra-GCC flights. This streamlined process is designed to make regional travel faster, more convenient, and hassle-free for GCC nationals and tourists alike.

Pilot Phase Between the UAE and Bahrain

UAE and Bahrain will be the first to implement and test the one-stop travel system. Following the successful pilot, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, and Oman are expected to join the program soon after. The system aims to unify border procedures across member states by completing all formalities at a single checkpoint, allowing smoother multi-destination travel within the Gulf.

Increased Flight Connectivity and Tourism Boost

Airlines such as Qatar Airways and Flynas are preparing to expand their intra-GCC networks in line with the new system. The improved travel experience is expected to increase regional flight demand, benefiting both travelers and airlines. This improved connectivity is set to boost tourism, business travel, and economic integration within GCC countries.

Benefits for Saudi Arabia and the Tourism Sector

Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE will gain significantly from enhanced travel links and reduced border delays. The one-stop system supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 tourism goals by easing access to prominent destinations like Riyadh, Jeddah, and the Red Sea coast. Meanwhile, hospitality providers in GCC countries are anticipating longer stays and multi-city visits, boosting revenue and tourism development.

Complementing the Unified GCC Visa

This travel system complements the upcoming unified GCC tourist visa, which is set to begin pilot testing in late 2025 and promises to allow tourists to visit all six member states under a single permit. Both initiatives aim to simplify and unify travel within the Gulf, making it an attractive, cohesive destination for international visitors.

Improved Travel Experience for Tourists

Tourists will benefit from faster and simpler border procedures, making it easier to explore multiple GCC countries in one trip. The streamlined system removes repetitive immigration waits, encouraging visitors to extend their stays and experience diverse cultures and attractions across the Gulf region.

Digital Integration and Future Expansion

The GCC one-stop travel system uses a unified electronic platform that connects travel-related records among member states. This digital backbone ensures real-time data exchange, enabling seamless verification and compliance at a single checkpoint. After the UAE-Bahrain pilot phase, the full rollout across all six GCC countries is planned, although timelines for complete implementation remain under review.
