The bulk of this economic boost—Dh20.2 billion—came from businesses using Google Search and Ads to connect with customers. “We’re incredibly proud to be a partner in the UAE’s boundless ambitions,” said Anthony Nakache, Managing Director for Google in the Middle East & North Africa. This impact reflects the UAE’s push toward a tech-driven, diversified economy under its Vision 2031.

Even government workers report 97% improved productivity using Google’s AI tools.
Jobs, Skills, and Creators
Google’s impact goes beyond convenience, fostering job creation and skill development:
- The Android and Google Play ecosystem supported 30,000 jobs in 2024, with developers earning AED 455 million in revenue.
- Through the Maharat Min Google program, over 430,000 UAE residents have gained digital and AI skills since 2018.
- YouTube creators are flourishing, with over 600 UAE-based channels now having more than a million subscribers, a 15% increase from 2023.
These efforts align with the UAE’s goal to build a skilled, tech-savvy workforce and a vibrant digital economy.
AI and the Future: A Dh298 Billion Opportunity
Looking ahead, the report projects that Generative AI could add AED 298 billion to the UAE’s economy by 2030, equivalent to 19% of its Gross Value Added (GVA). This potential underscores the UAE’s strategic focus on AI as part of its Vision 2031, which aims for a diversified, non-oil-based economy. However, 78% of UAE adults are not yet fully utilizing AI tools, suggesting room for growth through education and adoption.
The UAE’s broader economic context supports this trajectory. The International Monetary Fund estimates 4% real GDP growth in 2024, driven by investment and non-oil sector growth. Google’s tools are well-positioned to support this momentum.
Google’s Long-Term Commitment
As the UAE advances toward a smarter, AI-powered economy, Google is committed to being a long-term partner. Through investments in technology, training, and infrastructure, the company aims to support the UAE’s digital transformation. “Our AI-powered tools are transforming how people live and work, driving macroeconomic growth,” Nakache told .
