QIA invests in d-Matrix, a leader in generative AI inference for data centers. The investment was part of a $275 million Series C funding round, which valued d-Matrix at $2 billion. This latest funding brings d-Matrix’s total capital raised to $450 million. The fresh funds will speed up product development, global growth, and large-scale deployment of d-Matrix’s AI inference platform.
Strong investor interest and global backing
The funding round was co-led by Bullhound Capital, Triatomic Capital, and Temasek. New investors included the Economic Development Board of Singapore (EDBI) and Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), the sovereign wealth fund of Qatar. Existing backers such as Microsoft’s M12 Venture Fund, Mirae Asset, Industry Ventures, and Nautilus Venture Partners also participated. Investor confidence comes from d-Matrix’s innovative technology, expanding customer base, and increasing network of global partners.
Cutting-edge AI inference platform
d-Matrix’s platform integrates compute and memory in a single system, combined with high-speed networking and AI-focused software. Their solution delivers 10 times faster performance, 3 times lower cost, and 3 to 5 times better energy efficiency compared to traditional GPU-based systems. This efficiency improves costs and helps reduce data center energy consumption significantly. One d-Matrix data center can handle the workload of ten standard GPU-based centers.
Advanced features power performance
d-Matrix uses specialized hardware like the Corsair inference accelerators, JetStream networking cards, and Aviator software to achieve ultra-low latency and high throughput. The platform supports running very large AI models quickly in a single rack, making it highly scalable. Its unique memory-compute integration addresses the “memory wall” challenge in AI, allowing greater speed and energy savings. With a new 3D memory-stacking technology underway, d-Matrix aims to push performance further.
Future-ready AI infrastructure
Sid Sheth, CEO and co-founder of d-Matrix, said the company built its platform to handle continuous AI model operation at scale, which existing infrastructure was not prepared for. The company offers an open standards-based rack-scale solution called SquadRack™ in partnership with industry leaders Arista, Broadcom, and Supermicro. This secures d-Matrix’s place as a key provider in the evolving AI infrastructure ecosystem.
QIA’s investment underlines its commitment to transformative technologies that drive efficiency and growth in AI. d-Matrix is set to advance AI inference globally with sustainable, cost-effective solutions for enterprises and sovereign clients.
