Myths you should stop believing about entrepreneurs

The startup world is full of myths. And, while most of them are not true, they are actively promoted by the news media, the entertainment industry, and sometimes even by startups themselves. More often than not, these popular misconceptions prevent entrepreneurs from reaching their potential, and in the worst case, even lead to failure.

To maximize your chances of success when starting up, it is necessary to warn you about some very common ideas that prevent us from believing that this entrepreneurship is for us.

So, here are some frequent myths and reasons why you should not believe them.

Myth1: Entrepreneurship requires luck

Luck is an excellent thing, and it certainly exists when some variables are in your favor, but it is not the main ingredient for the success of a small business. Successful entrepreneurs work hard, are determined, and focused on their goals.

So yes, being an entrepreneur can be challenging, but it can also be one of the most rewarding things you have ever done in your life. The feeling of getting what you want at the same time that you see your business grow and prosper is unmatched.

Myth2: It takes a lot of money to become an entrepreneur

The financial issue is the point of greatest attention and doubt among new entrepreneurs, and also one of the most popular myths about entrepreneurship. This is because it always occurs in people’s mind that success is associated with how much you have at that moment to invest in the business.

Of-course, the absence of the necessary minimum resources can stagnate an excellent idea and bury an entrepreneur’s dream. However, as great companions, innovation and creativity can be used in the search for solutions with fewer resources. Besides, the communicative potential of the entrepreneur can also help you in the search for investments in your networking network.

Myth3: Entrepreneurship is only for people who had family entrepreneurs

Indeed, the training we receive at home is essential for our personal and professional development and success. The parent continually strives to give us the best advice and ideas for our progress. However, you must break with the limiting idea that this training is decisive for achieving success in business, especially if you did not have the opportunity to have entrepreneurial parents or relatives.

Entrepreneurship is a science and an art that can be learned and developed, but above all, the practice that you must continually exercise, and this will increase your chances of success. Not all the children of entrepreneurs have been dedicated to entrepreneurship, nor all entrepreneurs had parents who have been.

Myth4: To start a business, you need a good idea

Good ideas, everyone has them. But, the idea even a good one, is worthless, if you don’t know its implementation.

It’s the execution that creates value – when the idea is brought to life, and it manages to meet its market – and it’s a whole different story to fantasize about a hypothetical multi-trillion dollar business. Getting out of your comfort zone, accepting risk-taking (however disproportionate), sacrificing everything, and working five times harder than other mortals for years without any guarantee of salvation already requires an extraordinary temperament. But this is not enough: succeeding in getting your business out of the ground also requires unusual skill.

Conclusion

Now that you know these myths, it is time to start thinking big and start your own business. You need to make your dream of having your own business come true.
