From Oil Fields to Tech Titans: Mohammed Aldossary Empowering Small Businesses with Sary

Mohammed Aldossary, a visionary entrepreneur, has left an indelible mark on the internet industry. His journey from Saudi Arabia to the global startup ecosystem exemplifies resilience, innovation, and a commitment to creating lasting impact. Starting with notable successes at Careem and Circ, he has now co-founded Sary, a transformative B2B wholesale platform. This progression underscores his dedication to revolutionizing industries and supporting small businesses, reflecting a career built on the principles of perseverance and forward-thinking.

Born and raised in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, Mohammed grew up in a tribal community influenced by the Pearling industry and maritime trade. However, he chose a different path. Fueled by a desire to challenge norms, he embarked on a journey that would take him far beyond the oil-rich landscapes of his hometown.

Mohammed Aldossary’s educational journey led him to Toronto, Canada, where he pursued a BA in Organizational Studies at York University. His thesis focused on the gig economy’s impact on welfare sectors, exploring the dynamics of 1099 contractors in education, transportation, and health.

Startup Ventures and Learning Experiences

Coming from a family deeply rooted in the oil & gas industry, Mohammad was expected to follow a similar path. However, he had different aspirations. Motivated by a desire to challenge the status quo, he sought opportunities beyond the conventional routes.

Between 2013 and 2015, Mohammed Aldossary launched an edtech startup, which, despite its initial failure, provided valuable lessons. Undeterred, he then ventured into creating an Instacart-like platform for ethnic groceries, successfully exiting the business. These experiences honed his understanding of supply chains, customer needs, and market dynamics.

Joining the Startup Revolution

In 2016, Mohammed joined Careem, a ride-hailing startup that would later be acquired by Uber. As a market launcher, he witnessed the accelerated life cycle of a startup, navigating diverse geographies and challenges. His role expanded to KSA General Manager for Delivery, overseeing both B2B and B2C applications.

Following his success at Careem, Mohammad took on a leadership role at Circ, an electric scooter company. Here, he honed his skills in rapid scaling and operational management, contributing to the company’s growth before its acquisition by Bird.

The Birth of Sary

In 2017, a frustrating shopping experience at a wholesale market sparked an idea for Mohammed. He envisioned transforming the fragmented B2B wholesale space into something efficient, accessible, and tech-driven. This vision led to the birth of Sary Technologies. In 2018, Mohammed co-founded Sary with Khaled AlSiari, aiming to revolutionize the B2B wholesale space by providing small businesses with smarter ways to operate and grow. Sary’s platform connects suppliers with retailers, streamlining the procurement process and making it more efficient and user-friendly.

Sary: Empowering Small Businesses, Navigating Challenges and Pandemic Resilience

Sary’s mission is clear: to empower small businesses with smarter ways to operate and grow. Leveraging his background in operations management, Mohammed leads Sary’s charge. The platform streamlines wholesale transactions, making it easier for retailers, restaurants, and other businesses to access quality products efficiently.

The pandemic tested Sary’s resilience, but the team’s perseverance paid off. Recently, Sary raised an impressive $30.5 million in a Series B funding round led by VentureSouq. Their commitment to innovation, customer-centricity, and lasting impact continues to drive their success and fuel their growth.

Mohammed Aldossary’s Leadership and Philosophy

Mohammad’s management style is collaborative and forward-thinking. He values working with smart, driven individuals who challenge the norm and strive to create lasting impact, fostering a dynamic and innovative company culture. Under Mohammad’s leadership, Sary places a strong emphasis on innovation, continually exploring new technologies and strategies to stay ahead in the competitive B2B market.

Future Plans of Mohammed Aldossary for Sary

Looking ahead, Sary plans to expand its footprint across the MENA region and beyond. The company aims to become the go-to platform for B2B wholesale, offering unparalleled value to small businesses. Mohammad envisions a future where Sary dominates the B2B space and contributes to the broader economic development of the region. His long-term vision includes fostering entrepreneurship and innovation at all levels.

Mohammed Aldossary’s journey exemplifies the spirit of entrepreneurship. From challenging the status quo to building a thriving startup, he remains dedicated to creating positive change. As Sary solidifies its leadership in the MENA region, Mohammed’s vision continues to shape the future of B2B commerce.
