How UAE Builds a Global Hub for Mobility Startups

Smart Mobility Hub UAE makes the country a top spot for new transport ideas. Leaders build strong roads, bridges, metro lines, and trams. They add electric scooters and bikes for fast, cheap trips to work or fun places.

These rides connect bus stops and train stations to shops, homes, and parks. People use phone apps from companies to find a ride. Each scooter or bike has a QR code to scan and start.

Rules Help Companies Grow

The government sets safety rules for these rides. This helps local and foreign startups join in. The easy business setup brings new ideas, jobs, and money to the area.

The “World’s Coolest Winter” event shows off these projects. It pushes startups to grow big in the UAE and beyond.

Top Companies Lead the Way

Firms like Careem, Uber, Tier, Lime, FENIX, Skurrt, and Arnab offer services everywhere. Careem began in Dubai in 2012 with rides and deliveries via apps. It grew fast, and Uber bought it in 2019 for $3.1 billion.

Arnab is the first in the UAE to mix different rides like scooters and bikes. It works in the UAE and other MENA countries. Users pay easily with their phones on the app.

FENIX started bike rentals in late 2021. Now it has scooters and a plan called My FENIX for steady users. Tier uses batteries you can swap right away, which helps the planet. These companies started or grew big here and spread to other places.

Abu Dhabi Sets the Pace

Abu Dhabi gave out app licenses for scooters in 2019. It picks safe spots like Al Reem Island, Masdar City, Yas Island, Corniche, Khalifa City, and streets on Abu Dhabi Island. Eight areas let people rent and ride now.

The city plans to push bike paths to over 3,000 km by 2026. Ads teach safe riding rules.

Dubai Sees Big Jump

Dubai tried scooters in 2020 and opened them fully in 2022 in ten spots on bike paths. The Roads and Transport Authority gave free online permits.

Trips hit over 1 million in 2022, up from 500,000 in 2021. No bad crashes happened. Safe paths link tourist spots and busy areas.

In 2025, Dubai will add a smart check system for paths. It uses new tech to fix issues fast and keep rides safe.

Bikes pull in locals and visitors. They link to public transport and help tourism and business. Smart Mobility Hub UAE keeps drawing top startups with its smart setup and support.
