Adil Hassan Al Lawati: Leading RMS Insurance Brokers to New Heights

Adil Hassan Al Lawati, the dynamic Group CEO of RMS Insurance Brokers, has emerged as a key player in Oman’s insurance sector. With over 30 years of experience, Adil’s journey from a clerical role in engineering to leading one of Oman’s top insurance brokerage firms is a testament to his resilience, dedication, and visionary leadership.

A Bold Beginning in Insurance

Adil Hassan Al Lawati’s foray into the insurance industry was not part of his initial career plan. Dissatisfied with his clerical job at an engineering firm, he saw an opportunity at Oman National Insurance Company as a Risk Engineer, a move that would shape the course of his professional life. His mentor, JK Manna, played a pivotal role in guiding him through this transition. Under his supervision, Adil grew rapidly within the field, gaining exposure to top management across various industries in Oman.

Reflecting on this period, Adil recalls the words of a close colleague who said in 1998, “One day, you will become CEO.” This prediction came true, as Adil’s leadership skills were honed through his work with global firms such as AIG, Orient Insurance Co. and ACE Gallagher, preparing him for the top role at RMS.

The RMS Difference: Client-Centric Approach

Since joining RMS Insurance Brokers as Oman CEO, Adil has been instrumental in driving the company’s growth. RMS adopts a unique 360-degree client service model, where the team treats clients’ insurance requirements as their own. The process begins with an in-depth risk assessment, followed by a GAP analysis and enhanced coverage specifications. This client-focused approach sets RMS apart from competitors, ensuring comprehensive solutions from risk management to claims handling.

“We do not compete with other brokers or insurance companies. Instead, we focus on building long-term relationships and providing holistic solutions that truly add value for our clients,” says Adil, emphasizing RMS’s philosophy. Effective from 1st January, 2024 he has been promoted to the role of Group CEO.

Fostering Talent and Innovation

One of Adil’s most notable contributions to RMS is his commitment to talent development and innovation. Through the RMS Insurance Academy, the company invests heavily in nurturing local talent, developing the next generation of insurance professionals. This initiative not only supports Oman’s In-Country Value (ICV) program but also contributes to the broader growth of the insurance sector in the region. RMS also stands out with its specialized Profit Centers, which focus on specific business lines such as Property & Casualty, Employee Benefits, Energy and Construction. These dedicated teams ensure that every client receives expert guidance tailored to their industry’s unique needs.

Vision for the Future

Under Adil’s leadership, RMS Insurance Brokers has established itself as a leader in the industry. Looking ahead, Adil envisions further expansion across the GCC and beyond, while maintaining the company’s strong commitment to integrity, client service, and innovation. “I see RMS continuing to grow as a leader in the insurance industry, known for our excellence, innovation, and unwavering dedication to our clients. Our goal is to be the preferred choice when businesses think of insurance,” he Explains.

Adil also places great importance on cultivating a positive work environment, rooted in respect, integrity, and collaboration. He believes that success comes from not only building strong client relationships but also investing in the development and well-being of his team.

Leadership Values

For Adil, leadership is about more than just achieving business success. He highlights several key qualities that define a good leader: vision, integrity, empathy, and resilience. “A leader must have a clear vision, act with integrity, and show empathy toward their team. Resilience is crucial to overcoming challenges and setbacks with determination and a positive attitude,” says Adil.

Adil holds close to his heart values such as respect, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence. These principles guide his decisions and actions as a business leader, ensuring that RMS continues to thrive in a competitive market.
