In a groundbreaking move, Saudi Arabia has partnered with Doroni Aerospace, a US-based company, to manufacture and export revolutionary flying cars. This strategic alliance marks a significant step forward in the Kingdom’s quest to become a global leader in innovative transportation solutions. The partnership is set to accelerate the development of Doroni’s H1-X flying car, with plans to bring it to market by the end of 2026 and start commercial-scale manufacturing in Saudi Arabia by 2027.

The Rise of Flying Cars

For decades, flying cars have been the stuff of science fiction, but recent technological advancements have brought them closer to reality. Companies like Doroni Aerospace are at the forefront of this innovation, developing personal electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed for individual use. The H1-X, in particular, is a two-seater aircraft that can fit in a standard two-car garage and recharge at home, making it ideal for urban environments.

The Partnership: A Leap Forward for Saudi Arabia

The partnership between Saudi Arabia and Doroni Aerospace involves a $30 million investment by Innovation Wings Industries (IWI), operating as Kingdom Aero Industries (KAI) in the Kingdom. This investment includes an initial $5 million payment, with the remaining $25 million contingent on achieving key development milestones over the next two years. Once fully completed, KAI will own a 40% stake in Doroni.

This investment speeds up development, certification, and production. We aim to bring the H1-X to market by the end of 2026,” emphasized Doron Merdinger, CEO of Doroni Aerospace. The partnership accelerates the launch of the H1-X and establishes a joint manufacturing operation in Saudi Arabia, enabling global distribution of the flying car.

Vision 2030: Economic Diversification and Innovation

Saudi Arabia’s investment in advanced transportation technology aligns with its ambitious Vision 2030 strategy. This initiative aims to diversify the economy, reduce reliance on oil revenues, and embrace innovative solutions across various sectors. By partnering with global leaders like Doroni Aerospace, the Kingdom is fostering technological advancement, creating highly skilled jobs, and promoting industrial growth.

Vision 2030 also includes goals to enhance the aviation sector, making Saudi Arabia a hub for aerospace manufacturing and services. The partnership with Doroni Aerospace is part of broader efforts to localize aerospace manufacturing, including aircraft maintenance, air taxis, and helicopter production.

Challenges and Opportunities

While the partnership represents a significant leap forward in personal mobility, it also faces challenges common to the flying car industry. High production costs and stringent safety standards are major hurdles to mass adoption. However, the investment from KAI and the planned manufacturing setup in Saudi Arabia are designed to address these challenges by scaling production and improving cost efficiency.

The global flying cars market is projected to grow significantly, from USD 740.74 million in 2025 to USD 7,746.35 million by 2033. This growth underscores the potential for flying cars to transform transportation, making it faster and more efficient.

Saudi Arabia’s Mobility Push

Saudi Arabia is positioning itself at the forefront of mobility innovation, with a focus on flying taxis and autonomous vehicles. Industry leaders highlight the potential of these technologies to solve traffic congestion and environmental issues. The Kingdom has already piloted an air taxi in NEOM and is developing regulatory frameworks to support the integration of futuristic transportation solutions.

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics Services is actively supporting small and medium-sized enterprises working on mobility solutions through an incubator program. This initiative aims to provide financial and advisory support, fostering innovation across land, air, and sea transportation modes.

A New Era in Transportation

The partnership between Saudi Arabia and Doroni Aerospace marks the beginning of a new era in transportation innovation. As the Kingdom continues to invest in cutting-edge technologies, it is poised to become a leader in the global aerospace sector. The development and export of flying cars like the H1-X will enhance Saudi Arabia’s economic diversification efforts and contribute to a future where flying cars are as common as traditional vehicles.

In the coming years, as regulatory hurdles are addressed and infrastructure develops, flying cars are likely to revolutionize personal mobility. With Saudi Arabia at the forefront of this innovation, the world may soon see flying cars becoming a reality, transforming the way people travel and live.
