Courts of Space Moot Court- UAE’s Legal Tech Innovations

The inaugural Courts of Space Moot Court, a collaborative effort between the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts, has set a new standard in legal innovation. Held from May 7 to May 21, this hybrid competition engaged 15 university teams in exploring complex issues of space law, focusing on topics such as breach of contract and regulations pertinent to space tourism.

Learning and Competition

Participating students gained valuable insights into the DIFC Courts Rules, gaining expertise in handling potential disputes arising in the emerging space tourism sector. The moot scenarios simulated real-life cases, offering a platform for students to develop their understanding and skills in this novel legal domain.

Competition Highlights

Hamad Bin Khalifa University and Gujarat National Law University reached the final round, with Hamad Bin Khalifa University emerging victorious. This closely contested finale highlighted the depth of talent and the future potential of aspiring space lawyers.

His Excellency Justice Omar Al Mheiri, Director of DIFC Courts, emphasized the strategic importance of the Courts of Space project in positioning Dubai as a leader in adjudicating commercial space-related disputes.
